On Saturday, July 15, 2017, Dodgers’ Rookie phenom Cody Bellinger became the fifth player in the 2017 MLB season to hit for the cycle. The previous players this season were Wil Myers, Trea Turner, Carlos Gomez, and Nolan Arenado. The record for most cycles in one season was set in 2009 when 8 cycles were hit.

22-year-old Bellinger became the first Dodger rookie in franchise history to ever hit for the cycle and the youngest player since 21-year-old Mike Trout in 2013 to hit a single, a double, a triple, and a home run in the same game.

He did not begin the game by doing anything special, Bellinger, the cleanup hitter, came up in the first inning with two outs and a runner on first and hit a line drive just West of second base for a single. Bellinger then followed up his single by continuing to tear the cover off the ball as he has done since his 2017 debut with his 26th home run of 2017 over the right field wall. In the fourth inning, Bellinger hit an 84 MPH breaking ball from Steckenrider off the wall in right-center field for a double. All he needed now was the most difficult part of the cycle, a triple. Bellinger did not disappoint by doing just that in his fourth at-bat of the game hitting an 85 MPH breaking ball just over the glove of Stanton, the ball went all the way to the wall. By the time the Marlins’ outfield had recovered, it was too late and Cody Bellinger had become the 309th player in MLB history to hit for the cycle going 4-5.

Cody Bellinger cycle came in his 72nd career game, making him the quickest player to hit for the cycle since Fred Lewis hit for the cycle in his 16th career game with the San Francisco Giants in 2007.

With this cycle against the Marlins, Bellinger joins only Todd Helton as the only players to hit for the cycle vs the Miami Marlins.

The triple to complete the cycle was just Bellinger’s 2nd of his career, his first came in his eighth career game.

Not only was Bellinger’s cycle fantastic, but teammate Alex Wood became the fourth pitcher in the last 20 seasons to win his first 10 decisions as a starting pitcher. He joins Max Scherzer, Clay Buchholtz, and Stephen Strasburg in that category.

As for the Dodgers, they have won 28 of their last 32 games, with the best record in baseball (63-29), and at this point, it seems as if they will run away with the whole thing. This is where you come in, answer in the comments below…
