The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired left-handed pitcher Luis Avilan from the Chicago White Sox in return for right-handed pitcher Felix Paulino.
In 2018, Avilan has posted a 3.86 ERA in 58 games, primarily as the Chicago White Sox’ lefty specialist. Avilan has been almost unhittable for left-handed hitters as he has held lefties to a .146/.205/.146 batting line.
The Philadelphia Phillies have had a breakout season in 2018 and with hopes of Postseason glory, the Phils are adding on as much pitching as they can before it is too late. Avilan will certainly serve a purpose with the Phillies and will help them as they battle their division rivals, the Atlanta Braves, for a Playoff spot.
