Texas Rangers Sign Jesse Chavez (Giuseppe)

The Texas Rangers and Jesse Chavez agreed to a two-year contract on Tuesday that will pay Chavez around $8 million in total.

Chavez signed a one-year deal with Texas last year and was traded to the Chicago Cubs in July. Chavez was solid in Texas, putting up a respectable 3.51 ERA in 30 games but Chavez was a stud in his stint with the Cubs, allowing only five earned runs in 39 innings pitched over 32 games and having an impressive 1.15 ERA over that span.

2019 will be Chavez’s 12th year in the bigs with his ninth different team. In his career, spent primarily as a reliever, Chavez is 38-53 with a 4.45 ERA in 415 games.
