Chicago White Sox pitcher Ivan Nova was told he would need to pack his bags and head to Chicago on Tuesday after the White Sox struck a deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates for the starter.
Nova posted a 4.19 ERA through 161 innings across 29 starts in 2018. Nova will basically eat innings while the White Sox continue a lengthy rebuild in 2019. Nova should be expected to perform average at best but will be a solid middle of the rotation starter.
Nova has one-year left on his contract and is set to make $8.5 million in 2019. There has been no information as to who the Pirates will receive in the deal.
