Seattle Mariners Sign Yusei Kikuchi (Giuseppe)

Japanese left-hander Yusei Kikuchi agreed to a deal that will send him to the rebuilding Seattle Mariners on Monday.

Jon Heyman reported that the deal was for a three-year contract with a player option for 2022. This option could be replaced with a four-year, $66 Million guarantee. Kikuchi will reportedly make $43 million over those three years. $56 Million is guaranteed in the deal with the deal having the possibility of being worth $109 Million.

Kikuchi was a stud for the Seibu Lions in the NPB league and has garnered a 73-46 career record with a 2.77 ERA, going 14-4 with a 3.08 ERA in 2018 with 153 strikeouts. In 2017, he went 16-6 with a 1.97 ERA while striking out 217 batters and walking just 49 over the course of 187 and two-thirds innings pitched.
