The Pittsburgh Pirates agreed to a one-year, $2.75 million contract with outfielder Lonnie Chisenhall on Monday. Ken Rosenthal reports that within the contract, there are performance bonuses for reaching various plate appearance thresholds for Chisenhall.
Chisenhall was limited to 29 games in 2018 due to injuries in both calves. In his short playing time this season, Chisenhall hit a solid .321/.394/.452 in just 95 plate appearances.
Chisenhall is primarily an outfielder and while Gregory Polanco is out with an injury, Chisenhall will likely take his spot. This was a solid pickup for the Pirates and will add organizational depth to a team that definitely needs it.
